We promote environmentally friendly and socially responsible practices and support regional projects. It is important to us to use renewable energy and stay at the cutting edge to ensure continuous development.
Hotel Löwengarten features windows with thermal insulation glazing, insulated roofs, and facades. Since May 2022, our photovoltaic system with 150 solar panels has covered a large portion of our roofs, precisely 262.5 sqm. In summer, we can cover our entire energy needs during the day with this system.
In 2023, we also put our electric vehicle charging station into operation. Two vehicles can now charge their batteries at our parking lot using the ‘Chargepoint’ charging station. In summer 2024, we also installed a charging station for e-bike batteries in our bike yard.
Moreover, Löwengarten has four air heat pumps, which allow us to both cool and heat, saving a third of our energy. Our cooling system is connected to a heat recovery system, which allows us to heat the supplied water to up to 40°C without any additional energy.
Behind the scenes, we also focus on resource-efficient and responsible working practices. Our employees are trained accordingly and are familiar with the responsible philosophy of Hotel Löwengarten.
For example, our waste is carefully separated into glass, plastic, paper, as well as residual and organic waste, and then properly disposed of. Food scraps are processed in a biogas plant.
When sourcing food, we focus on regional suppliers as well as buying local fruits and vegetables.
Currently, the cargo bike ‘Emilio’ is located in our bike yard. Emilio is part of the Speyer project #inspeyeRad, which launched in 2020. Under the motto ‘share instead of own,’ ‘Emilio’ serves as a shared and free resource that the neighborhood can use together.
Speyer is a city of short distances, which makes urban mobility by bicycle much more advantageous than by car. InspeyeRad is an innovative and sustainable project that we are happy to support.
